The history of this blend is somewhat clouded and seems to date back to the 18th Century. The most popular version of the story is that during the Great Plague of Marseille in 1720 (an outbreak of bubonic plague that killed upwards of 100,000 people), a band of thieves were caught and charged with robbing victims of the plague. Even though they were robbing people with this contagious plague, not one of the thieves caught the disease. To get out of some “hard time”, the thieves bargained their freedom for the recipe that kept them safe. It was an herbal preparation of rosemary, lavender, sage, cinnamon, mint, nutmeg, and garlic macerated in vinegar. This concoction became known as the Four Thieves’ Vinegar (also known as Marseille Vinegar).

Thankfully, today the bubonic plague is exceedingly rare, but we do have lots of other nasty viruses and bacteria floating around. Our blend uses the most powerful anti-bacterial essential oils to create a synergistic protection (all oils are 100% pure):

Clove Bud – has excellent antiseptic properties

Lemon – has antimicrobial and bactericidal properties. It also helps to stimulate the immune system

Cinnamon – has antibacterial and antifungal activity

Eucalyptus (radiata) – has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, decongestant and expectorant properties

Tea Tree – has antifungal, bactericidal and immune stimulating properties

Rosemary – has antimicrobial properties and is an excellent tonic for the body’s yang energy.

Application: Use in a difuser – diffuse in the home during cold and flu season.

Precautions: Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep away from small children. Do not ingest.

100% pure ingredients: organic essential oils of Clove Bud (Syzygium aromaticum), Lemon (Citrus medica), Cinnamon Bark (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), Eucalyptus ( Eucalyptus radiata), Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis).
