This tree ranges in size and shape from small with a bushy crown to a large well-formed tree. The oil is steam distilled from the fresh or partially dried leaves.
ESSENCE: E. Radiata has a fresh, powerful peppery camphoraceous odour. It is cleansing and refreshing. It is a middle to top note and is considered to be stimulating.
EFFECTS: Often used to cleanse an area from negative energy or in situations of conflict.
THERAPY: The main therapy of Eucalyptus is for the respiratory system. May help with asthma, bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis and throat infections. Use in a steam inhalation or add to a balm ointment and rub over chest area. Eucalyptus is a decongestant, expectorant and analgesic. The analgesic properties may be helpful to relieve muscular aches and pains.
PRECAUTIONS: The oil is considered to be safe when used topically - however, the 1,8 cineole content of the oil may be toxic to the liver and therefore should be blended at not more than 5%.
Here's a simple, easy to use recipe for sinusitis:
5 drops Peppermint essential oil
3 drops Eucalyptus radiata essential oil
2 drops Ginger essential oil
10 ml Jojoba vegetable oil
Blend essential oils together and mix into the Jojoba oil. Pour into a 10 ml amber glass bottle with a dropper top. Using 2 - 3 drops of blend, apply in and around the nose and run along your sinus area from the cheek to the ear. Take 3 - 4 deep breaths. Apply every 4 - 6 hours as needed.
