Dry skin is is typically hereditary, but can also be caused by exposure to dry climate or cold weather. It is the result of underproduction of sebum, or oil, by the sebaceous glands under the skin. Oil in the skin acts as a barrier against moisture loss, which is why dry skin also tends to be dehydrated. Dry skin tends to be delicate and thin. The pores are almost invisible and the skin tends to wrinkle easily.
It's important to protect your skin against moisture loss, especially during daylight hours. During the winter months a rich moisturizer will help to achieve this. Avoid any product that contains glycerin, as glycerin attracts moisture, and if there is no moisture in the air, it will pull it out of the skin. Drinking plenty of water (6 – 8 glasses a day) and using a hydrating mist will also help to keep moisture loss at a minimum.
How our program works
Our Dry Skin Care program is designed to balance the sebaceous glands and protect the skin from moisture loss. Rather than using regular distillled water, our moisturizer, cleanser and toner are blended using ultra-hydrating high-altitude-distilled organic rosewater. Cold pressed organic unrefined avocado oil is the primary vegetable oil, as it offers excellent emollient properties as well as being a natural sun filter.
