Cocoa butter makes an excellent emollient and lubricant.  It helps soften and protect dry skin….and it smells like Chocolate! The butter is a solid fat from roasted seeds of the cacao plant. Cocoa butter is a wonderful additive to lotions, creams and soaps, particularily if you want to thicken the texture. Unrefined cocoa butter, if used in large quantities, will give a slightly yellow tint to your finished product.

It is generally used at 15% - 25% when making creams and lotions. For body butters use up to 50% of the oil portion of the blend.
