Benzoin is a resin extracted from the Styrax benzoin tree. It has a sweet vanilla-like aroma. It is also known as gum benzoin and is used in making incense. Benzoin makes a good fixative for perfumes and soaps.

EFFECTS: Benzoin has a calming and uplifting effect. It is a good oil to use when one is sad or lonely. It is a mild anti-depressant.

THERAPY: this oil is a good anti-inflammatory for arthritic conditions. It is also used as an expectorant and a diuretic.
